Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team access places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
